MrBeast’s Squid Game in Real Life
A familiar challenge becomes a complete story: 456 contestants, a stated prize and one eventual winner. Published 24 November 2021, the video keeps its destination clear across successive games.

WHY IT WORKED: OUR READING
Hook: make the challenge clear
The title names the familiar format and the prize. Our reading: viewers can understand the premise before clicking, and the opening has a concrete promise to deliver.
Pacing: show meaningful progress
Games and eliminations make progress visible. We interpret the changing obstacles as a reason to stay curious; we do not have the video’s audience-retention data.
Payoff: answer the central question
The competition reaches a winner. The transferable lesson is to plan the resolution before polishing the hook, so each step earns its place in the story.
Apply the lesson to your business
For a founder or expert, we can plan a short video around one real question, visible steps and a finished demonstration. We plan. You record. We create.
What we could create
- One short-form concept with a defined payoff
- Three hook options and one recording-ready script
- One Reel edit from supplied footage, with captions

Dollar Shave Club’s Launch Video
A founder walks through a warehouse explaining a razor subscription with blunt humor and visual gags. Published 6 March 2012, the video gives a straightforward offer a distinctive personality.

WHY IT WORKED: OUR READING
Hook: establish the offer early
The opening introduces the founder, product and value proposition quickly. Our reading: the humor has a useful foundation because viewers know what is being offered.
Pacing: let visuals add meaning
The explanation continues while the setting supplies visual jokes. This gives us a model for removing repeated setup and making editing choices support the message.
Payoff: bring personality back to the product
The ending returns to joining the club. The lesson is to keep the offer understandable throughout, so the entertainment and the intended action belong together.
Apply the lesson to your business
For a small business, we can shape a founder introduction around one customer problem, one clear offer and humor that fits your brand. You record from our brief; we create the short video.
What we could create
- One founder-video script with three hook options
- One recording brief with simple visual prompts
- One short-form edit with captions and a clear offer

Duolingo’s Dead Duo Campaign
In February 2025, Duolingo turned its mascot’s staged death into a mystery unfolding across social posts and the app. This breakdown examines a coordinated campaign rather than one viral post.

WHY IT WORKED: OUR READING
Hook: change a familiar situation
The announcement abruptly changes a familiar character’s situation. Our interpretation: the unanswered mystery invites curiosity because the audience already knows the mascot and its personality.
Story: connect the installments
Clues and follow-up posts move one story forward. We read this as consistent narrative planning, supported by the brand’s established character and an existing audience.
Participation: connect attention to activity
Duolingo reported a meaningful lift in new and returning users. Our reading: give participation a useful purpose, then measure product activity separately from campaign reach.
Apply the lesson to your business
For a small brand, we can turn a real customer question into a three-part series. Each post delivers useful information, preserves your voice and gives viewers a reason to follow the story.
What we could create
- One three-episode concept and publishing sequence
- Three short scripts with recording prompts
- Three Reel edits from supplied footage, plus captions
